We have to confess, we became quite emotional while watching Yenai Yethetho Seigiraai. Our hearts were aching for this couple due to the challenges they were going through…

—With a story like Yenai Yethetho Seigiraai, the first thing we noticed was innovation. We’re so accustomed to seeing fair ladies on screen that it was new and great to have another representation of the Indian woman.
Colorism was addressed through piercing dialogues that made us reflect and touched on several aspects such as inferiority complex, fear of loving/being loved, pressure to be someone else, insecurity, etc.
One line that shook us was when Varsha said to Vikram “before you came, I had a happy and beautiful life. I realized I have dark skin only after I fell in love with you…It made me think I was not good-looking. My love for you turned into fear” hmmm…😔
—Vikram (Karthikeyan Ayyachamy) was so fun to watch. The way he was ‘possessed’ by love (or should we say infatuated) was cute ‘cos the guy couldn’t even compose himself. We were like “chill, Vikram! It’s just a girl, don’t go crazy like that”😅
—Great work executed by the casting team because Vikram and Varsha (Saranya Ravichandran) looked so good together. The romance felt so real, honestly, we watched the movie more than twice 😍 Their interaction reminded us of high school lovers as they were, at times, childish or upset over little things
—Yenai Yethetho Seigiraai was intentional in sounding the alarm on those trivial differences that society focuses on. Seriously, there are far more significant problems in the world than attacking skin tone.
Another thing we noted was that colorism was only an issue for the women; Vikram’s friend was dark but no one raised a problem. The film showed us that it takes maturity to rise above this flawed mentality and be confident about one’s beauty
—We are clapping for the music director for delivering such captivating tunes!!!
