We didn’t really know what to expect from Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu as we didn’t see the trailer; frankly and sorrowfully, we ended the movie the same way

Delicious
—Gautham Menon gave us a comprehensive view of Muthu’s life to know him better: the crowded space where he slept, the outdoor areas he visited to unwind, the tight bathroom as well as the physically demanding job he had
—”Go and find good jobs, and stand up against anyone who gets in the way”, an inspirational line uttered by Muthu to encourage his colleagues to say no to enslaving work conditions and strive for better and more decent opportunities against all odds
—So, when Silambarasan (playing Muthu) first appeared, we weren’t marveled at his acting.
He actually made the film seem dull with his monotonous expression BUT he had a strategic plan in mind 😃 Unfortunately, we can’t say more than that to avoid spoilers
—Hats off to the fighting choreographer for crafting electrifying moves, especially with the character Rawther (Jaffer Sadiq)
Bland
—The editing was one of the factors that didn’t energize the movie, particularly the repetitive fading transitions which became tedious.
The narrative dragged a lot and could have been cut short to aim straight to the point. Additionally, the cinematography was fair, not adding much to the gangster genre
—Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is a story that has been told soooooo many times in the past: a man from humble beginnings goes to the city and gets entangled in a gangster world then the aftermath.
We were waiting for something new along the way but it just followed popular trends
