~Still Worth Watching~
Delicious
—Nice to see Dulquer Salmaan (playing Aravind) in a different role after a long time being in the lover boy seat.
He took charge of his character and the different looks he gave confirmed what a good actor he is. He was vulnerable, happy, then bold and resolute. Kudos to Manoj K. Jayan (playing Aravind’s brother) for the versatile expressions he also displayed
—The camera lens was literally our eyes throughout Salute; it caught the exact angles we wanted to see. It’s as if we were behind the camera and Aslam Purayil was showing us the details we were craving for
—Salute was a nice bounce-back for Bobby & Sanjay, it was an original script full of different layers.
The film was a great example that it’s never ever too late to correct our mistakes, as the saying goes ‘better late than never’. We appreciated this attitude in Aravind who, despite strong opposition, persisted in amending his ways
Bland
—The story started with lots of information to take in at once: there were the election campaigns, police officers planting evidence, a series of deaths, as well as various other details that all seem too much to digest🤔
—Though the screenplay was innovative, it provided way too many items that could have been trimmed to get straight to the point.
In the end, we appreciated Salute for the creative depiction of the murderer, but the movie could easily be forgotten
