It took three times to watch Kumbalangi Nights in order to appreciate the high caliber of this film. Not that the movie was complicated but it was a very different approach to storytelling and the brain needed a gradual process 😆
If we could offer endless accolades to Syam Pushkaran for crafting such a ground-breaking narrative, we would!
Kumbalangi Nights has four brothers dealing with their personal woes, a mute sibling, an African American woman character (which is a first in Mollywood!), a narcissistic, creepy, yet insecure antagonist, anddddd shows the impact of blended families on children. Isn’t this plot rich or what? 😀
Sushin Shyam, the music composer, deepened the essence of Kumbalangi Nights, there’s no way we can forget the theme song that moved and left us pensive.
To avoid writing a book-length review, it’s best to simply express the greatest appreciation with a round of applause; otherwise, there’s so much more to say in terms of the color grading, cinematography, acting, cast, art direction, sound design, editing, location, etc. BRAVO!
