‘Kathir’ was more than what we anticipated it to be! We watched the trailer and thought “oh it’s gonna be one of those…” But we were pleasantly amazed and enjoyed it 😀
The screenplay was a little bit too loaded than necessary but overall, it was a good watch
~Worth Watching~

Delicious
—We really enjoyed seeing Kathir’s (Venkatesh) development starting off being mean and grumpy to a responsible guy. He was the rude boy next door who had no cares for the world, just living on his own terms.
Witnessing his transformation with the help of an older landlady (Rajini Chandy) made it interesting as we wanted to learn from her wisdom
—After watching Kathir’s trailer, we honestly thought it was going to be one of those lovey-dovey tales about boy meets girl but we were fooled!
It was so refreshing that the screenplay gave us something new and exciting; trust us, there is no way you can map out the end from the beginning
—Kudos to the editor! We loved the impromptu and seamless transitions between the past and present
—’Kathir’ was not a comedy but we definitely had some segments that made us crack up, particularly Kathir and his silly friends making plenty of mistakes😁
We also had times of reflection when the landlady was advising Kathir. Just to paraphrase one thing she said: “When you move away from living for yourself and start looking after other people’s interests, that’s when your life really begins to matter.”
She was absolutely right, it was only when Kathir moved away from being self-centered and angry that he found purpose
—The art director created a stunning visual identity of the landlady’s house which was over-saturated with plants!

Bland
—The screenplay contained a lot of sections that could have been trimmed off to keep it to the point.
One moment, it was Kathir and his friends chasing a girl eloping with a boy; another moment, we were looking at a revolutionary group, then later, Kathir’s college days. It was a lot to take in as these stories didn’t affect much the main plot
—Color grading appeared a bit brushed off with some scenes looking too bright 🙁
