Summary: The shocking news is out: Krishnaveni, a 50-year-old mother of two grown-ups, is unexpectedly pregnant; unluckily for her, she lives in a shame & blame society

Overall Rating: Beignets
We need to confess something before we start: If we were part of Krishnaveni’s community, we would have secretly gossiped about her pregnancy😔
Ok…that being said, we’re so glad Veetla Vishesham talked about pregnancy at a later age to curb societal stereotypes and send a vital message
~Worth Watching~

Delicious
—One thing you’ll notice throughout Veetla Vishesham is the everpresent yellow color: yellow bindi, yellow dishes, yellow walls, yellow mangoes, yellow shirts, yellow color grading, yellow lights, yellow yellow yellow everywhere.
The art director maintained this color theme very well. Yellow is the color for cowardice and that’s exactly how the males in Krishnaveni’s family were.
Unni (Sathyaraj), her husband, never had the guts to speak up; Ilango (RJ Balaji), her first son, was afraid to meet his longtime girlfriend’s mother or speak about her to his family; Anirudh (Visvesh), her second son, was intimidated by his classmates
—The cinematographer intensified the movie’s experience with purposeful camera movements. The push-in shots brought us closer to the action and highlighted important details we wanted to see in the characters
Unni’s mother (K.P.A.C. Lalitha) stole the show 😀 She was the pillar of the house, very vocal yet adorable. She annoyed us, amused us, and touched us
—Through Veetla Vishesham, we realized that our society usually attributes old age to engaging in monotonous and dull activities and taking care of grandchildren.
Ilango’s girlfriend (Aparna Balamurali) referred to it as ‘social conditioning’, i.e. training individuals to act or respond in a manner generally approved by society.
Krishnaveni (Urvashi) and Unni decided to pamper each other with love and consequently got pregnant, so what?
They were happy, who are we to criticize them or stress what they should or should not do? That was the big lesson we learned AND we promise to no longer point the finger at others from now onwards 😉

Bland
—Ilango, unfortunately, did not win our hearts. The acting appeared unnatural, even the way he was delivering lines seemed very superficial. This was quite disappointing because he had the lead role
—Though being a comedy, the big surprise was that we didn’t laugh much during the movie; there were more reflective moments when we were wondering what we would do in this or that case as opposed to being carried away by the humor
