Single Shankarum Smartphone Simranum (4S) hit all the right buttons by introducing us to a metaverse world. Nonetheless, something was still missing to really get us excited: maybe it was the over-acting and lack of pure comedy?🤔
~Still Worth Watching~
Delicious
—Let’s talk about the title’s intentional acronym ‘4S’, putting an emphasis on the phone technology theme, well thought out😃
The film opened up with the caption “Polite request: Don’t expect logic in this movie. Purely fictitious of world’s progressiveness” And indeed that’s what we witnessed!
4S gave us a peek at what the world will surely look like with drones picking up and delivering food to customers and AI phone assistants imitating voices, increasing money in our bank accounts, and basically monitoring & guiding our every move.
The story was easy to follow with Shankar (Shiva) looking vainly for love and tired of being despised as a food delivery man until Simran, the AI assistant, turned his life around. We got to see the good and bad sides of technology
—No criticism whatsoever on the CGI and visual effects, everything was executed accurately and precisely. The interactive phone and other digital animations kept 4S interesting.
It was so fascinating that Simran (Megha Akash) could change versions going from 1.0 to 3.0 with new outfits and competencies
—Another great component was the amusing costume design, especially when it came to Shankar and his father. They usually wore t-shirts with a message, e.g. “0% interest in your business”, “Zero confusion”, and “Give me a coffee”
—The robotic choreography was a smart move and reinforced the technological aspect of the movie 👏🏾
Bland
What probably didn’t work with 4S was the inability to be transported into the story as we were mostly observers. The dialogues were very cheesy that we didn’t even have the opportunity to laugh.
The acting was either ordinary (like the female leads) or over-dramatic (like Shankar’s best friend, the surgeon, Shankar’s father, the two men following Shankar, etc)
The fact that Shiva didn’t personalize his character by bringing out a memorable aspect made it easy to forget 4S after watching it
