If you’ve ever watched Kuttavum Shikshayum, then Kannur Squad is basically a replica of this movie: a police squad tracking down perpetrators in different parts of India.
The slight difference is that, unlike Asif Ali, Mammooty steals the spotlight as usual🙁

—Big ups to the editing team😃 What a splendid work that ushered in a thrilling and investigative atmosphere. Not surprised by the quality delivered by Praveen Prabhakar as he also did it for the movies Trance and John Luther
—The cinematography, as well, produced sizzling visuals by heightening the momentum during the chase scenes and maintaining a smooth light control during the night scenes
Bland
—Kannur Squad reminded us of Kuttavum Shikshayum as both stories’ goal was to honor hardworking and selfless police officers who sacrifice their lives for the nation.
Both screenplays centered on a police squad that:
-was made up of about the same number of people,
-chased the culprits from Kerala to North India,
-was trapped in a North Indian village, and
-received little recognition from their department
The coincidences were just too much that it felt like a déjà vu. As a result, the excitement was lost…😓
—The squad’s ethics were quite questionable, e.g. they were quick to imprison a woman who committed a justified crime while they accepted a crooked man on their team
—As always Mammootty (playing Officer George) was the undefeated hero, the wisest and strongest of them all. This rendered Kannur Squad like his typical movies.
Overall performance and dialogues were plain and the lack of parallel narrative made it a bit dull to enjoy
—Why feature prominent actors like Shine Tom Chacko and Sunny Wayne for a few seconds?
