How to express our love for Anti Indian??? 😀 It was a splendid satire; we had a great blend of comedy, drama, and social awareness in good measure. We learned a lot!
~So Worth Watching~
Delicious
—Anti Indian did something very extraordinary in terms of color grading: It integrated a green color palette in the scenes where Baasha was considered a Muslim, then switched to an orange color palette where Baasha was taken for a Hindu, and later a white/neutral color palette, where Baasha was believed to be a Christian. How ingenious!
—C Elamaran was very intentional in stressing people’s excessive attachment to cultural norms (this was seen in the Hindus funeral dance, Muslim burial procedure, and politicians’ modus operandi) as opposed to valuing humanity. He nicely enriched the plot by giving us different vantage points coming from the media, the black shirt bystander, politicians, religious leaders, and even pigeons 🤣. That dialogue between the pigeons on the religious bias will forever remain in our minds. The ending lines sealed the whole point of Anti Indian; the sad truth is that despite watching a powerful movie like this, a great number of us will not change our ways…
—Anti Indian needed humor and it was done in the most surprising and awkward ways. The actors were so comfortable just being themselves
—Score lyrics were very simple, yet, communicated a dynamic lesson to learn
Bland
—Dubbing, dubbing, dubbing was a little struggle, especially when it came to Baasha’s mom (Vijaya Maami)
