‘John Luther’ took off on a very high note, keeping us glued to our seats. The momentum, later, slowed down due to predictable and unexciting sequences

—Roby Varghese Raj really elevated the quality of the cinematography, simply superb! The camera was as curious as we were, showing all the details we wanted to see.
The match-cut transitions were brilliant and drew our attention
—Hats off to Abhijith Joseph for his directorial debut, he did well. The clever blocking of the actors brought so much zest to the storytelling, we were transported on a journey
—’John Luther’ had all the components to produce a thrilling atmosphere: the dark color grading, ominous score, remote and obscure locations, and great suspense.
We were quite anxious while watching the movie, trying to decipher this kidnapper
—The continuity team did a beautiful job of maintaining the consistency of major facts, e.g. John’s (Jayasurya) hand injury that went from stitches to a scar and the clock time (in the police station) that coincided with the incident timings
—John taught us about resilience. Despite his hearing loss, he still regained the confidence to go back to work and persevere

—Our old friend ‘dubbing’ suffered quite a bit 🙁
—Hearing loss aside, the screenplay wouldn’t have been any different. True, the hearing loss added something new to the plot but that was about it
—John’s lack of proper care for his wife and family didn’t send a good signal about his personality. He appeared unemotional throughout the movie despite his hand/ear injury or while spending time with his family
—The kidnapper’s profile was average, we had anticipated a more intimidating antagonist
—The ending scene when John chased a man in the forest was a little unrealistic. Without a hearing aid and being severely wounded, how did he pursue that man at night?
