Hmmm…hmmm…Speechless…Just wanna tear up…Dices really succeeded in pulling out our emotions, we were deeply touched!
The screenplay was real and much needed; it was a powerful illustration of the aftermath of sexual abuse executed in a subtle manner.
The minimal dialogue led us to absorb the sentiments and vibe conveyed on screen. David (Daniel Etim-Effiong) pierced our hearts and we were transported into his universe in the 14 minutes that Dices lasted.
We were angry with (not at) David, crying with him, and scared with him; we blame the sound effects for getting us so emotional 😀
The match-cut transitions between past and present scenes were done in a soft and seamless fashion. And the acting in Dices…What can we say? Impeccable! The psychologist (Timi Charles Fadipe) did a good job keeping his cool in light of David’s frustration, fantastic!
Thank you to the team that designed the academic principal’s office using informative banners to send a message and also point out the irony. Many thanks to the lighting team for providing a dark and gloomy atmosphere.
Teeny tiny small minus was the very saturated colors of the school’s aerial view in the opening scene which set a bad tone, but good thing it wasn’t reflected during the movie 😀
Dices is worthy of applause!
