Hello ladies and gents, my name is Rose, it’s confession time: I’m not a big Kalyani Priyardarshan fan so when I heard about the movie streaming online, I was like…ok, let me just give it a try. SHE ROCKED IT!!! Wow, wow, wow, for the first time, Kalyani came out of her shell, she lived and breathed the personality of a commentator and a chatterbox. I was like: who is this woman??
Sesham Mike-Il Fathima is a win for sure, so many lessons to take away from, congratulations to first-time director Manu C Kumar and his team. This gets a Feast rating and of course, this movie is so worth watching
Let me begin by saying that I have nothing negative to say about this film. I tried to find something to criticize but there was none.
Delicious
—The movie’s synopsis was already interesting ‘cos it made you wanna find out who was this daring girl wanting to become a commentator, I mean this is a job that we seldom think about and for Manu C Kumar to come up with such a plot, that was quite original. Kalyani Priyardarshan played the role of Fathima, a lively, bubbly, and talkative woman. The story started smoothly by inviting us into her world right from a young age. We got to understand when her nonstop chatter started and got to experience the kind atmosphere in her family and neighborhood. You could tell that Manu was intentional about every scene as he wanted us to love and sympathize with Fathima, and we did!
—Loved, loved the colorful images and close-up shots that added more flavor to the storytelling. The moment when Fathima did her first football commentary was phenomenal: silence was ushered in the background, her voice commanded attention, and we felt like we were in that arena with her! She was so full of energy and life that you didn’t even wanna watch the players on the field but just listen to her. Kudos to the sound engineers!
—Apart from the themes of perseverance, courage, and embracing your natural gift, what was unique about the film was the fact that Fathima insisted on fighting for her dream in a passive way. She was never disrespectful and never encouraged being aggressive contrary to her friend Solomon (played by Shaheen Siddique). Additionally, she mastered her passion, which was important. It wasn’t enough to say that “yes, I love doing sports commentary” but she went the extra mile by studying the science of sports, and that was very encouraging to see.
Thank you to the cast and crew for such a wonderful experience, Sesham Mike-Il Fathima is streaming on Netflix, bye everyone
