Live was a mixture of the Malayalam movies Keedam and Naradan as we witnessed the atrocities of fake news and cyber harassment.
Overall, the screenplay was kind of ordinary as it touched on things we’ve heard/seen without adding a new touch.
~Worth Watching~
Delicious
—We have to give it up to V.K. Prakash for a fluent storytelling which gave us an in-depth understanding of the characters and circumstances.
We saw the extent to which society feeds on fake news and shames others for their own pleasure. It was such an irony that Amala’s husband (Soubin Shahir), though owning a women’s clothing business, still despised women’s issues😖
Dr. Amala (Mamta Mohandas) was the inspiring humanitarian fighting for Anna (Priya Prakash Varrier) amidst the outrage.
She, along with her league of women, stood up for justice at the expense of their own safety and reputation.
—”I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat”, a powerful quote shared in the film highlighting many times again how our communities prefer to see women subjugated than emancipated
—Mamta’s role was similar to Jana Gana Mana‘s where she also defended a poor lady in distress.
But in Live, she stepped up her game by being more involved physically and emotionally. She was fierce yet apprehensive, we could see her determination to break barriers in order to see truth triumph.
Of course, there’s nothing to say about Shine Tom Chacko’s performance, he excels at his craft😃
We didn’t get to really experience Soubin Shahir, don’t know if it was intentional or not, but his character seemed removed from the script as he only made sporadic appearances
Bland
—Live was presented in an ordinary manner, more like it just exposed the events that occurred in Anna’s life and the consequences. There wasn’t much flavor in the storytelling to ignite our rage or empathy.
We watched, sympathized, and that was it. Probably because we’ve seen stories like this many times in the past and were waiting for a new touch.
Soubin’s attitude toward the end was quite sudden and almost unconvincing as there was no explanation of what led to his new condition
